On Feb. 9, 2019, a full audience of more than one hundred children, parents, and members of the community were treated to a free performance of the Atlanta Opera’s “The Barber of Seville” at the ARTlanta Stained Gallery at Fort Mac.

Just one of the many ways visual and performing arts are being cultivated at and attracted to Fort Mac, this event attracted the Opera to the beautiful ARTlanta Stained Gallery as its first-ever performance in Southwest Atlanta. Presented as a bilingual version of Rossini’s delightful and energetic “The Barber of Seville,” this 45-minute adaptation was performed in Spanish and English, and demonstrated the power of love to triumph over adversity of every kind.

Presented in partnership with Fort Mac LRA, ARTlanta, Macauley Investments, Councilmember Joyce Sheperd and the Atlanta Opera, this special event offered many individuals their first opportunity to experience the Opera. A full crowd was treated with an interactive

Q & A session with the performers about the opera, and the children were engaged in the performance, interacting with the performance from start to finish.
